Welcome to our Partner Profile Series. Each month, we feature insights and perspectives from HR professionals and consultants working with various clients to address today's most pressing issues.
This month, our spotlight is on Alight. Alight is a leading cloud-based human capital technology and service provider for many of the world’s largest organizations and over 35 million people and dependents. Through the administration of employee benefits, Alight helps clients gain a benefits advantage while building a healthy and financially secure workforce by unifying the benefits ecosystem across health, wealth, wellbeing, absence management and navigation.
For my role at Alight, I am a subject matter expert for engagement and communication services. What I love about my role is solving some of the toughest challenges for our customers. Every organization struggles with something. It’s a pleasure to have the opportunity to get to know the people behind the company and to have dialogue about what’s working and what’s not. It’s similar to trying to find the missing piece to a jigsaw puzzle. I enjoy the challenge of solving these business issues and seeing the customers happiness over the long term with us.
Our team is seeing employers focusing on offering more mental health options that offer flexibility in treatment, such as being able to text, connect virtually, or meet in person to receive the treatment they need. Additionally, innovative benefits that empower employees with more flexibility in how their benefits are used such as PTO Exchange.
Our most recent Alight Mindset Study revealed that employees look to their employer for financial wellness. Many organizations are struggling with implementing a program that also provides education. PTO Exchange can strike this delicate balance to ensure a perfect fit for employee and employer alike. Our team provides data and analytics to illustrate the impact of these benefits. An example would be tracking the reduction of loans from 401(k)s in an organization.
The most important task HR can do is evaluate the employee experience for benefits. A popular challenge I hear from employers is that they have great benefits to offer but are getting low utilization. Many times, this is due to a friction filled experience that is extremely fragmented for the employee. Challenge your team to personally go through the experience for each program and see how many clicks it takes to access the program. This can be an eye-opening experience and reveal that your benefits process is not as easy as management might think.
Many organizations don’t have the data or analytics behind their benefits offerings. They need to make an informed decision on whether or not a benefits program is successful. This is where having a solution such as Alight Worklife can help immensely. Not only is our platform vendor agnostic to which integrations are simplified and is a seamless experience for employees, but the rich data and analytics from having a connected experience is where the platform really shines. We pride ourselves on helping our clients not only create a seamless benefits experience for employees, but also enabling management to make informed decisions based on their personal data.
